Why Should We Hire You? The Toughest Interview Question Answered

Interview is the most important part in the process of hiring. So important that out there in the world, there is a lot of common knowledge about how to prepare for these interviews and get the job one wants. There are a lot of Dos and Don’ts involved in being an interviewee. Interviewers will assess you in more ways than you now. It’s not just about the answers you give but how you give them. Hand gestures, body postures, body language and many other things will be noticed by the interviewer. Depending on the kind of job you are applying for, there will be different questions. But, there is one question that is common to most of the interviews.

Why should we hire you?

Interviewers ask this question to see what unique qualities you might possess, how do you stand out in the crowd and how you see yourself. This is the part of the interview where you drive home and sell yourself. It’s best to think of this question beforehand and come up with a relevant answer that you are comfortable with.

Obvious answers like “Because I need a job” or “I would like to work for your company” will not help you. You need to give a concrete answer that will tell them why they should hire you over somebody else. A good way start would be to tell your interviewers that you would be fitting for the position open. Build more evidence on this. Talk about the qualities you have how you will put them to use in this position. Without sounding overconfident you can even push the line by saying that you can solve problems and get the work done in the smoothest way.  You can pull up some of your past experiences and link them here. Tell the interviewers how doing that has kind of prepared you for this.

Through the questions they ask, make an assessment of what kind of qualities they are looking for in an applicant. Make sure that you make it clear that you possess those qualities and you will be successful in applying them. This question could bring the job home for you.
